Mural XXL – Isaac Tin Wei Lin

Name Artwork: Mural XXL
Artist: Isaac Tin Wei Lin
Location: Peter Schunckstraat, Flat III, Heerlen
Year: 2018

The artist from Boston, USA, works from a rhythmic and regular abstract pattern of forms that is applied completely and in one go from the hand. Given the scale at which this is done and the mechanically precise impression created by the work, this makes this XXL mural very special.

Color theory determines how Isaac Tin Wei Lin understands and uses colors. For his mural, he chose primary colors red, blue and yellow, and white and black to give his fundamental approach a starting point. His style is improvisational and repetitive. Conceptually, his work explores construction and deconstruction. To understand present and (our) future, the past must be acknowledged.

His abstract forms are like pieces stacked on top of each other representing parts that can be put together to form something new and different. Each abstract form/paint stroke is part of a larger whole.
