Felipe Pantone is een Argentijns-Spaanse kunstenaar, die al op 12-jarige leeftijd met graffiti begon en afstudeerde aan de kunstacademie in Valencia, waar hij ook werkt. “Kleur gebeurt alleen door licht, en licht is de enige reden waarom het leven gebeurt,” zegt Pantone. “Licht en kleur zijn de essentie van visuele kunst. Dankzij televisie, computers en moderne verlichting is onze perceptie van licht en kleur volledig veranderd.” Voor Pantone is zijn kunst een meditatie over de manier waarop we visuele informatie consumeren.
Pantone gebruikt software die hij vervolgens in fresco’s, muurschilderingen, schilderijen en sculpturen omzet en zo brengt hij de digitale wereld naar de wereld van de tastbaarheid en ervaarbaarheid..
“Ik ben opgegroeid als schilder, opgeleid als schilder, en nu is mijn grootste doel om los te komen van alle academische opleidingen en in vrijheid kunst te kunnen maken, met de middelen die het beste werken,” zegt hij. Hij bedient zich daarbij van allerlei middelen die een kruising vormen van technologie en kunst, van graffiti tot kinetische kunst.
Felipe Pantone is an Argentine-Spanish artist, who started graffiti at the age of 12 and graduated from the art school in Valencia, where he also works. “Colour only happens through light, and light is the only reason why life happens,” Pantone says. “Light and colour are the essence of visual art. Thanks to television, computers and modern lighting, our perception of light and colour has completely changed.” For Pantone, his art is a meditation on the way we consume visual information.
Pantone uses software that he then turns into frescoes, murals, paintings and sculptures, bringing the digital world to the world of tangibility and experience.
“I grew up as a painter, trained as a painter, and now my biggest goal is to break free from all academic training and be able to make art in freedom, using the means that work best,” he says. In doing so, he employs a variety of means that are a cross between technology and art, from graffiti to kinetic art.
