Jaune, in het normale leven Jonathan Pauwels, is afkomstig uit Brussel, en heeft een herkenbare stijl ontwikkeld door zijn ‘vuilnismannetjes’, kleine grappige voorstellingen met stencil, een sjabloontechniek. Ontstaan als gedachtevorm tijdens zijn werk als vuilnisman vanuit het idee dat – net als vele andere dingen die we voor lief nemen – ook de vuilnismannetjes een essentieel maar vaak onzichtbaar stukje van onze maatschappij zijn. Zijn werk bestaat uit een ingewikkeld systeem van stencils, die herbruikbaar zijn en op meerdere manieren te combineren. In Heerlen maakte hij op die manier ook de Mijnroute.
Deze karakteristieke ‘publieke’ mannetjes zijn op diverse locaties te vinden in de stad. Lokale kunstenaar Dazetwo -die een enorme Jaune fan is- was maar al te bereid te assisteren bij deze opdracht, en gezamenlijk hebben ze een aantal werken geplaatst.
Jaune, in normal life Jonathan Pauwels, is from Brussels, and has developed a recognisable style through his ‘rubbish men’, small funny representations with stencil, a stencil technique. Originated as a thought form during his work as a rubbish collector from the idea that – like many other things we take for granted – rubbish men too are an essential but often invisible piece of our society. His work consists of an intricate system of stencils, which can be re-used and combined in multiple ways. In Heerlen, he also created the Mine Route in this way.
These characteristic ‘public’ little men can be found in various locations around the city. Local artist Dazetwo -who is a huge Jaune fan- was only too willing to assist in this assignment, and together they installed a number of works.
