Kunstenaar en dichter Robert Montgomery (Schotland 1972) woont tegenwoordig in Londen. Daar begin hij al vroeg met het plaatsen van zijn werk op bilboards en ongebruikelijke plekken. Ook creëert hij regelmatig ‘fire-poems’ die publiekelijk in brand worden gestoken. Hij is zo’n interessante kunstenaar die op het randje van Street Art, Poetry en High Art balanceert.
In het eerste gesprek bleek daarnaast, dat hij ook nog eens uit een voormalige mijnwerkersstad komt in Schotland, waar beide grootvaders trots werkten. Speciaal voor hen schreef hij ooit de regel: ‘Mine Love, Distribute Hope’. Krachtige woorden die helaas in zijn thuisstad nooit een plek hebben kunnen krijgen. Dat maakt het nu extra bijzonder deze regel prominent te laten prijken boven het Schinkel-Zuid terrein dat de toekomst van onze stad symboliseert.
Artist and poet Robert Montgomery (Scotland 1972) currently lives in London. There, he began posting his work on billboards and unusual places early on. He also regularly creates ‘fire-poems’ that are publicly set on fire. He is one of those interesting artists who balances on the edge of Street Art, Poetry and High Art.
In the first conversation, it emerged in addition, that he also comes from a former mining town in Scotland, where both grandfathers proudly worked. Especially for them, he once wrote the line: ‘Mine Love, Distribute Hope’. Powerful words that unfortunately never managed to find a place in his hometown. That makes it extra special now to have this line prominently displayed above the Schinkel-Zuid site that symbolises the future of our city.
