De uit China afkomstige en in Zuid-Afrika woonachtige kunstenaar DALeast is in de wereld van de street art een echte topartiest, met een zeer herkenbare stijl. Thema’s uit de dierenwereld presenteert hij als draadachtige sculpturen, half dier half machine, half natuurlijk half kunstmatig. De subtiele humor die daarmee verbonden is komt ook tot uiting in zijn tijdelijke (permanente?) credo “DALeast is currently a human being.”
De moeilijke situatie aan het pand, met een grote boom ernaast, lost hij briljant op door een robotachtige kat om het hoekje te laten kijken. Het blijft gissen of die de volgende seconde verdwijnt of juist tevoorschijn komt. Zoals hij dat elders in de wereld deed met o.a. een gigantische walvis, een dino-achtig wezen, een kudde galopperende geiten of een springende dolfijn.
Originating from China and living in South Africa, artist DALeast is a truly top artist in the world of street art, with a highly recognisable style. Themes from the animal world he presents as wire-like sculptures, half animal half machine, half natural half artificial. The subtle humour associated with this is also reflected in his temporary (permanent?) credo “DALeast is currently a human being.”
He brilliantly solves the difficult situation at the property, with a large tree next to it, by having a robotic cat look around the corner. It remains guessing whether it will disappear or just appear in the next second. As he did elsewhere in the world with, among others, a giant whale, a dino-like creature, a herd of galloping goats or a jumping dolphin.
