Het ROOFAL-projekt in de passage aan de Veemarktstraat vormde een bijzonder en uitdagend project van de Stichting Street Art i.s.m. woningcorporatie Weller. Deze passage verbindt de Pancratiusstraat met de Plaarstraat en de Akerstraat. De passage en het gebied heeft de afgelopen tijd een dynamischer karakter gekregen doordat Fidelio Arts and Culture, welzijnsorganisatie Levanto voor het project In2yourplace en Sushi Vandaag Heerlen er neer zijn gestreken.
Deze dynamiek vroeg om een visuele context en street art was daar de oplossing voor.
Zo ontstond het idee voor de eerste Roofal van Heerlen. Daarvoor is de Franse kunstenaar 3TTMAN (Louis Lambert) benaderd. De geboren Fransman leeft en woont al meer dan 20 jaar op Tenerife en is internationaal gelauwerd en gewaardeerd.
Louis Lambert ziet leven en kunst als ongescheiden zaken. 3TTMAN, l’homme trois têtes, de man met drie gezichten, is zijn drieledig alter ego dat staat voor onbevangen kijken vanuit alle richtingen. Afbakeningen tussen highbrow en volkskunst, het populaire en het alledaagse , het moderne of het folkloristische ziet hij niet.
Voor de Oude Veemarktstraat maakte hij een ontwerp met als titel “Watching-upon-us”. Er wordt over ons gewaakt door een bijzondere plafondschildering.
The ROOFAL project in the passage on Veemarktstraat was a special and challenging project of the Street Art Foundation in collaboration with housing corporation Weller. This passage connects Pancratiusstraat with Plaarstraat and Akerstraat. The passage and the area has recently gained a more dynamic character because Fidelio Arts and Culture, welfare organization Levanto for the project In2yourplace and Sushi Vandaag Heerlen have settled there.
This dynamism demanded a visual context and street art was the solution.
Thus was born the idea for Heerlen’s first Roofal. For this purpose, the French artist 3TTMAN (Louis Lambert) was approached. The French born artist has lived and worked in Tenerife for more than 20 years and is internationally acclaimed and appreciated.
Louis Lambert sees life and art as separate things. 3TTMAN, l’homme trois têtes, the man with three faces, is his tripartite alter ego that stands for uninhibited viewing from all directions. Demarcations between highbrow and folk art, the popular and the everyday , the modern or the folkloric he does not see.
For Old Veemarkt Street, he created a design titled “Watching-upon-us.” A special ceiling painting watches over us.
